A workshop on “River Basin Management Plan Development in Alazani River Basin” just kicked-off at the conference hall of the Hotel “Citrus”, Tbilisi. The workshop is organized by the International Office for Water within the framework of the EU funded project European Union Water Initiative Plus for the Eastern Partnership (EUWI + East)
The overall goal of the workshop is to understand the main principles and objectives of River Basin Management from planning to implementation process. It also aims to ensure coordination between various actors of RBMP development, including Surface and Groundwater Delineation teams, ESCS (Ecological Status Classification System) development and survey, involvement of basin stakeholders and Public Consultations, etc.
The language of the workshop is English with simultaneous interpretation into Georgian.
The workshop is attended by the respective personnel of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (MEPA) and the National Environmental Agency (NEA) of Georgia, Representative of Aghstafa Amelioration company from Azerbaijan, responsible for River Basin Management Planning (RBMP), as well as representatives of the contracted companies on the Project RBMP development, Surface and Groundwater Delineation teams from Georgia and Azerbaijan.
