A workshop on Delineation of Transitional and Coastal Water Bodies in the Pilot Area of the Black Sea Coast just kicked off in the conference hall of the Divan Suites Hotel in Batumi, Georgia.
The workshop has gathered about 20 participants from the Fisheries and Black Sea Monitoring Department of NEA, NEA's Central Office and Batumi Laboratory of NEA. Few participants from Azerbaijan also attend the workshop as observers, in term of gain Georgian experience for the similar activities in Azerbaijan in the nearest future. The workshop will last for two days, 19-20 December, 2017.
The workshop aims at harmonizing and improving knowledge of the WFD and MSFD principles, as well as various Biological Quality Elements and other reference/technical requirements for delineation of transitional and coastal water bodies; lessons learned from the MSFD based EMBLAS project and first attempts of he coastal delineation, as well as stakeholders discussion in the process of identification of all types of coastal and transitional waters appearing in Georgia. Joint field trip to the EUWI+ pilot area will take place on the second day of the workshop.
