During the workshop, participants exchanged on the state of the art of Programmes of Measures in different countries and coordinated on-going contracts for the Alazani-Iori and Khrami-Debed river basins in Georgia, and the Kura upstream Mingachevir river basin in Azerbaijan.
This workshop aimed at explaining the methodology to develop Programmes of Measures and at preparing the next steps to finalise the River Basin Management Plan.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Ministries of Environment and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, and the contracted companies in Georgia and Azerbaijan (REC Caucasus and SADIG LLC).
A Programme of Measures defines the measures to be implemented in order to achieve a River Basin Management Plan’s objectives: it commits the government to ensure its proper implementation and should be declined operationally at both basin (sub-basin) and administrative levels.
