More than 7,000 participants from all over Ukraine joined the Facebook challenge That’s almost three times more than last year!
As a reminder, this challenge is part of a global initiative – International Clean Beach Day, when active citizens around the world concentrate their efforts on cleaning river banks and beaches.
Ukraine is one of the leaders of this initiative with 234 clean-ups in every oblast in the country. That means that at least 35.7 tonnes of waste were collected and removed to prevent them from polluting our waters!
As part of the campaign, on 21 September, the EU Delegation to Ukraine also took an active part in cleaning up the Dnipro riverbanks.
Thank you to everyone who joined the campaign. Together, and only together, we can protect our rivers, seas and oceans.
The campaign was organised jointly by two EU-funded projects, EUWI+ (“EU Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership”), and antoher EU-funded project EMBLAS-Plus (“Improving Environmental Monitoring in the Black Sea: Selected Measures”), with support from the EU Delegation to Ukraine and the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine.
