To raise awareness on water pollution issue, young people will join the clean-up action co-organised by EUWI+ on the occasion of the Lake Sevan protection day.
The 2019 edition of the Lake Sevan protection day is co-organised by the Armenian Ministry of Environment, the Water Committee under the Ministry of Territorial Administrations and Infrastructure, Gegharkunik Regional Authorities, Sevan National Park, Country Water Partnership in Armenia and the EU funded project EUWI+ (European Union Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership Countries).
Pupils and teachers from several Communities around Lake Sevan will take the lead during this action that follows a series of past green actions and celebrations aiming at raising awareness on water issues in Armenia.
Aiming at improving awareness on pollution and water issues, this beach clean-up event will be followed in the afternoon by a press-conference. Speeches will be the occasion to highlight the environmental protection activities of the Sevan National Park, established in 1978, with the aim of protecting the important high mountainous lake ecosystem.
It will be also the occasion to highlight the support of EUWI+ project in the development of good water management in this region. Experts from France, Austria and Armenia work together to flag the introduction of a new basin management philosophy in the country. In this basin management philosophy, involvement of local stakeholders and of citizens in water issues is key.
